LSVT for Parkinsons Disease
Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) is a research-based treatment program designed to help individuals with Parkinson’s disease improve their voice, speech and functional communication. LSVT is an intensive program, requiring four sessions per week for four weeks. The exercises are not difficult, and the results are usually impressive. After the therapy month is over, the client has to continue to do the exercises independently to maintain the results.
Although LSVT was designed for patients with Parkinson’s disease, therapy using LSVT principles can sometimes be helpful for individuals with some other neurologic voice and speech disorders.
